Cancun is situated on the famous Riviera Maya (or the Mayan Riviera if you prefer the translation!). The Riviera Maya is on the Caribbean side of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula and is really pretty impressive. The beaches are unarguably spectacular and the quantity of luxury hotels is incredible. It is not hard to understand why so many people want to have their wedding here. The sand is of the sort that feels like flour and the waters are the most beautiful turquoise. Getting on average over 300 days of completely blue skies a year, the climate’s not bad either. As mentioned, there is no lack of hotels in Cancun or all along the Mayan Riviera to hold your Cancun destination wedding but here are a few swanky ones: Le Blanc Spa Resort, Barcelo (I think there are a couple of these, there is definitely one between Cancun and Playa del Carmen), La Amada (literally meaning ‘the loved’), Me by Melia (which unashamedly propagates self-indulgence), CasaMagna Marriott Cancun, JW Marriot Cancun, the Royal Cancun and a number of Rui hotels.
